The Virgillian Free Alignment was the democratic government of the Virgillian humans located in the galaxy's Virgillian sector, and was based on Virgillia 7 and had formed during the Virgillian Civil War against the Aristocracy from 25 BBY to 4 ABY.

As the Aristocracy was the established Virgillian government, and nominally a member of the Galactic Republic, where the Alignment was a resistance group, it had trouble getting any support from outside the sector.

History

The rise of the Galactic Empire and the start of the Galactic Civil War prompted the Alignment to ally itself with the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Shortly before the end of the war, the SoroSuub Corporation began donating spare ships to the Alignment, including several Quasar Fire-class bulk cruisers which were refitted into light carriers, like Flurry. These carriers were used to carry Zebra starfighters, C-73 Tracker starfighters, and Z-95 Headhunters. After twenty eight years of fighting, the Alignment finally defeated the Aristocracy and ended the civil war.

The Virgillian Free Alignment, though not officially belligerent during the Galactic Civil War, played a significant, covert role by sending what forces it could spare to the Alliance Military massing at Sullust, including twenty-two warships for the Battle of Endor.
