Rakaa IV
Rakaa IV was a planet occupying the fourth orbital position[2] in the Rakaa system,[1] on the edge of[2] the Core Worlds.[1] It was a warm world of jungle and forests, with surface water also being present. The planet's flora included the nargk root.[2]
Rakaa IV was the homeworld of the Rakaans, a sentient species of large, predatory, hive-based[2] insectoids.[3] The Rakaans had a complex life-cycle which involved transitioning through five different sexes, with one of the phases involving taking care of their eggs in nesting chambers.[2]
The natives of Rakaa IV rarely traveled beyond their homeworld.[2] One exception was the Rakaan Lud Chud, who established a criminal empire in the Elrood sector[4] of the Outer Rim Territories.[5]
Behind the scenes
Rakaa IV was first mentioned in the 1993 sourcebook Planets of the Galaxy, Volume Three, which was authored by John Terra and published for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[6] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Rakaa system, and therefore Rakaa IV, in grid square J-12.[7]
