A Geonosian

Insectoid was a term that denoted a variety of species that either looked like insects, had evolved from insects, or were insects themselves. The Verpine were a famous example of a sentient insectoid species. While most insectoids possessed a hive mind, a number of them existed with only a partial hive-consciousness or simply as individuals within the greater species.
