Description

Qalydon was a planet[4] located in the Qalydon system, a part of the Sertar sector in the Outer Rim Territories of the galaxy.[1] Qalydon's surface was covered in mountains.[2]

History

Qalydon served as the headquarters of the Fellowship of Kooroo.[4] Around the time of the Revanite crisis, archaeologists discovered hieroglyphs carved into stone walls at the feet of mountains on Qalydon which depicted the cultural rise of the inhabitants—except for one untouched mountain.[2] The world was connected to the New Sith Wars, which were at times called the "Curse of Qalydon".[5]

Senator Bail Prestor Organa and sergeant Pello Scrambas visited the world when it served as a battlefront during the Clone Wars.[6]

By 2 ABY, the world was part of the Galactic Empire.[3] In 2 ABY,[7] High Reverend Massus Gyne of the Fellowship of Kooroo issued a bounty for Andor Javin, a TriNebulon News journalist after Javin made claims disparaging the Fellowship and their beliefs. On the date 38:2:9, the Sektor 242 NewsLine transmitted a report from Port Fyrin on Qalydon. In the report, it was mentioned that few bounty hunters within any guild expressed interest in the assignment, despite 20,000 credits the Fellowship is offering for Javin's demise.[3]

Behind the scenes

Qalydon was first mentioned in the "Galaxywide NewsNets" feature of West End Games' Star Wars Adventure Journal 13, written by Peter Schweighofer, and published in May 1997.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the world in grid square R-5.[8]
