Commenor/Legends
- "I tell you, Hobbie, nothing Dodonna said prepared me for the sight of all those ships. Commenor must be some major-league trading planet…Made me feel like a real rube from Tatooine."
- ―Biggs Darklighter
Commenor was a planet in the Commenor system of the Colonies, just outside of the Core Worlds.
Description
A trading outpost and spaceport, Commenor was considered as prestigious as the Core planets. It was known for its chrysopaz gemstones and local brandy.
History
Early history
Commenor began as a colony of Humbarine. Due to slow interstellar travel and communications, it was one of several colony worlds that declared their independence. The planet joined the Galactic Republic early in its history, sometime between 25,000 BBY and 22,000 BBY.[2]
Old Republic era
During the Mandalorian Wars, the planet was attacked by the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders, as part of the Mandalorian Triumph campaign. Between 3959 BBY to 3956 BBY, during the Jedi Civil War, a battle was fought here against the Sith which the Republic had won.[2]
In 44 BBY, Commenor contributed ships and crew to Senator Ranulph Tarkin's Outland Regions Security Force.

During the Separatist Crisis, Senator Padmé Amidala spoke at the University of Commenor against the Military Creation Act.[5] The planet remained loyal to the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, and was attacked by the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Commenor native Jan Dodonna became one of the first Star Destroyer captains, while Ahalas Svindren became a Major in the Grand Army of the Republic and a prominent Republic propagandist.[12]
Galactic Civil War
Following the Declaration of a New Order, there were a number of anti-Imperial protests across the planet.[13] A resistance movement later appeared on the planet.[14] During the Galactic Civil War, the Alliance to Restore the Republic established a secret base on Commenor's largest moon, Folor.[15] Shortly before the Battle of Yavin, Rebel pilots of Red Squadron undertook a mission to recover astromech droids from smuggler Nera Dantels. The mission was a success but pilot Cesi Eirriss was killed.[3]
By 4 ABY, the planet had become an Imperial fortress world. Commenor and nearby Foundry were abandoned by Imperial forces in 6 ABY, when New Republic forces moved to the Colonies from the Kashyyyk system.[2] Nevertheless, Commenor remained formally under Imperial control. After the Liberation of Coruscant, General Bel Iblis designed an operation to conquer Commenor. However, the plan was never put into motion since the people of Commenor ousted the Imperial governor a short time later.[11]
The planet remained independent from the New Republic, but still maintained trade relations with it, as well as the Empire and the independent warlords.[16] By this time, the New Republic still used the Folor Base, especially during the Coruscant campaign.[17] The moon served as a New Republic stronghold during the Hunt for Zsinj and the Thrawn campaign.[2]
By 9 ABY, the Commenorian bioengineering corporation Xenovet had become a secret Imperial cybernetics plant. The facility was attacked by New Republic forces soon after the end of the Thrawn campaign. There, Rogue Squadron freed former prisoners of the Star Dreadnought Lusankya and discovered that Director of Imperial Intelligence Ysanne Isard had survived the Bacta War.[4]
Tavion Axmis acquired the Scepter of Ragnos from a merchant on Commenor in 14 ABY.
Later history
Commenor eventually joined the New Republic. Fyor Rodan served in the New Republic Senate during the Yuuzhan Vong War,[10] during which time the Yuuzhan Vong conquered the world.[18] Commenor was later liberated from the Vong by Boba Fett's Mandalorian Supercommandos at the end of the war.[2]
In 40 ABY, Commenor became allied with Corellia in the Second Galactic Civil War after the original plan to retake Commenor from the Empire was revised and leaked by an unknown party as a plan by the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances to invade and conquer Commenor. By that time, Fyor Rodan was its Prime Minister. Matric Klauskin served it as an admiral. It sent a fleet to repulse the Blockade of Corellia.[11] Later, at the height of the war, Commenor contributed a fleet of Star Destroyers equipped with new turbolaser technology to the Confederation war effort.
It later came under attack. During the attack, the Galactic Alliance Third Fleet launched an asteroid at the planet, and the Commenorians were unable to keep it from colliding with their homeworld.[19]
Behind the scenes
The PC game Star Wars: Rebellion mistakenly places Commenor in the Corellian sector of the Galactic Core.
