An assault platoon,[1] also known as a heavy weapons platoon,[2] was a formation of the Imperial Army.
Organization
Assault platoons were made up of two line squads, and two heavy weapons squads, usually armed with heavy repeating blasters. Assault platoons were commonly strengthened by the addition of one or more heavy weapons detail, such as a heavy repeating blaster detail or medium repeating blaster detail. A standard assault platoon numbered between thirty-eight to forty-seven men, with forty-one being the most commonly encountered size.[1] Assault platoons could be augmented by the addition of two armor sections and two line squads.[2]
