Line squad

The line squad was the basic deployment unit of the Imperial Army.

Organization

A line squad was comprised of eight soldiers led by a sergeant. During the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire experimented with ways to increase the combat effectiveness of the basic line squad following setbacks against the insurgent Alliance to Restore the Republic. One major effort was the issuing of a light repeating blaster to each squad. Rearming line squads was sporadic, but more than half of the squads deployed to the Shwuy, Harron and Nembus sectors were outfitted with a light repeating blaster per squad, with all squads on Uviuy Exen and Trammen being armed as such.^[1]
