Freestanding subsectors/Legends

The freestanding subsectors were the independent sectors that were not part of the galactic government.
Description
The freestanding subsectors were remote sectors in Wild Space. They also contained several star systems in the western parts of the Expansion Region and the Mid Rim, at the edge of the Unknown Regions.[1]
Wild Space
Trianii Space
Trianii Space was a freestanding subsector located in Wild Space that bordered the Corporate Sector.[1] It was ruled by the Trianii from their homeworld of Trian.[4] Trianii Space also contained the planets Brochiib, Ekibo, Fibuli, Monic, Perin and Pypin.[4][3]
Farana sector
The Farana sector was a freestanding subsector located in Wild Space that bordered the Corporate Sector.[1] It was ruled by the Ocsin and named after their homeworld of Farana.[4] The Farana sector also contained the Hull's Star system.[1]
Gradilis sector
The Gradilis sector was a freestanding subsector located in Wild Space.[1] It contained the planet Nirauan, which bordered the Unknown Regions.[15]
Expansion Region
The freestanding subsectors of the northern Expansion Region included the planets Escabar, Pesitiin, Roxuli and Thedavio VII.[1]
The freestanding subsectors of the southern Expansion Region included the planets Aruza, Frewwil, Kayri III and Taloraan, as well as the Lequabis and Poviduze systems.[1]
Mid Rim
The freestanding subsectors of the northern Mid Rim included the planets Ankus, Burska and Voniss.[1]
The freestanding subsectors of the southern Mid Rim included the planets Gwar, Mhatma 5, Nopsin and Theal, as well as the Meria and Opitha Tren systems.[1]
In the eastern part of the Mid Rim, far above the galactic plane,[10][17] the Sebaddon system was located in a freestanding subsector.[1] During the Cold War, in 3650 BBY, the planet Sebaddon was classified as part of the Unknown Regions.[18]
Former freestanding subsectors
During the Imperial Period, the number of regional sectors increased significantly. As a result, new sectors were created in the Outer Rim Territories by the Galactic Empire from former freestanding subsectors.[1]
Corporate Sector
Soon after the Declaration of a New Order,[19] the modern Corporate Sector was established by expanding a freestanding subsector.[1] The original Corporate Sector, formed in 490 BBY,[20] encompassed several hundred systems, all devoid of sentient life.[12]
Following the Emperor's rise to power, Baron Orman Tagge and the Galactic Corporate Policy League convinced Palpatine to dramatically expand the Corporate Sector to include nearly 30,000 systems. At the suggestion of Baron Tagge, the Corporate Sector Authority was created as the region's sole owner, employer, government and military.[4]
Hutt-dominated areas Rimward of Hutt Space
By the final decades of the Galactic Republic, the Hutts held economic control over a large portion of the Slice. At the end of the Clone Wars however, the Hutts lost their sphere of influence Coreward of Hutt Space. In 19 BBY, following the end of the Sy Myrthian Insurrection, the Empire annexed the Kreetan Narrows in the pursuit of Separatist holdouts.[19]
On the Rimward side of Hutt Space, the Empire also organized new sectors from Hutt Space and Wild Space systems.[21] One such sector was the Baxel sector, which was created from various freestanding subsectors.[1] Formerly part of Wild Space, Teth became the capital of the Baxel sector and was given theoretical control of Hutt Space.[21]
Moddell sector
The Zuma regions, the Inner Zuma and the Outer Zuma, were considered part of the Unknown Regions until the final centuries of the Republic. As these regions became more explored, what had been the Unknown Regions became Wild Space.[16]
Around 50 BBY, when the Republic incorporated the Inner Zuma sectors,[16] the Moddell sector was admitted as a freestanding subsector,[4] with Annaj as its capital by default.[16] Eventually, the Empire created the Zuma sector from various freestanding subsectors, including the Moddell sector.[1]
