Vengeance (Imperial-class, Jerec)
- "This is Star Destroyer Vengeance to all escort craft. We are entering high orbit."
- ―Vengeance commander on arrival at Sulon
The Vengeance was an Imperial-class Star Destroyer belonging to the High Inquisitor Jerec.
History

During the Attack at Datar, the Star Destroyer was at the disposal of Vice Admiral Slenn.[2] A unit under the command of Nahdonnis Praji was assigned to serve aboard the Vengeance and sent to sever Rebel Alliance supply networks on the planet.[4] During this battle, Slenn accidentally tipped off the Rebels about the Imperial attack, causing them to fight to the last man. Lord Darth Vader, displeased at not being able to capture any of the Rebels alive, executed Vice Admiral Slenn for his oversight. The Vengeance later participated in the Battle of Nar Shaddaa.[2]
During the events surrounding the violent battle to bring Sulon under Imperial control and Morgan Katarn's death, the Vengeance belonged to the High Inquisitor Jerec, with Captain Thrawn having been dispatched by Emperor Palpatine to both assist him and command the vessel.[5] The Chiss officer was frequently assigned to the Vengeance as a means to keep the Dark Jedi in check, as the Emperor was fully aware of the natue of his servant's true ambitions.[3]
Although this ship was destroyed by the monster Spore, Jerec managed to salvage its computer core and transfer it to a new Star Destroyer, Vengeance II. After ceding the Vengeance II to Death Squadron, the personal flotilla of his primary rival, Lord Vader, recently ordained by the Emperor as Supreme Commander,[6] the Inquisitor Jerec renamed his final flagship Vengeance as well, seemingly loath to depart from the name of his old Star Destroyer.[3][7]
Behind the scenes
According to The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, the Vengeance that attacked the Rebels on Nar Shaddaa is the same as the one under the command of Jerec in pursuit of Spore.[8]
The Essential Reader's Companion clearly establishes that Advisor Golthan's Vengeance is a different Star Destroyer than Jerec's Vengeance.[9]
