Two-man Imperial scout walker
The two-man Imperial scout walker was a model of bipedal scout walker used by the Galactic Empire and crewed by a pair of pilots. A cockpit extended away from its body,[1] which featured eight windows at the front, plus one long window at the back of the cockpit. The two-man Imperial scout walker could kneel down by having its right leg bend forward and its left leg bend backward.[2] It also featured a floodlight and a double-barreled turret atop its body, with another floodlight mounted above its cockpit.[1]
Behind the scenes
The two-man Imperial scout walker was first mentioned in The Empire Strikes Back Sketchbook, a Star Wars Legends reference book written by Joe Johnston and Nilo Rodis-Jamero and released in June, 1980.[2] It was depicted using Johnston's first breakthrough bipedal walker concept developed for the 1980 film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, dated to late 1977.[3] It was first identified as the two-man Imperial scout walker in the Star Wars Scrapbook section of the newspaper comic strip The Return of Ben Kenobi, written by Archie Goodwin and penciled by Al Williamson, which ran from May 17 to July 25, 1982.[1]
