The Solaest Uprising occurred during the Galactic Civil War, fought between the Galactic Empire and the Alliance to Restore the Republic.^[2] Imperial pilot T. Alvak fought in the Uprising, earning a promotion to Flight Captain and the Distinguished Flight Medal for his actions.^[3] The fighting led to extensive civilian casualties.^[4]

Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan intervened in the battle. She transmitted messages, dispensed much-needed material, and bought time for the Rebel evacuation.^[1]
