Although this article is based on official information from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

Purple mantis was a species of predatory invertebrates found on the desert planet of Tatooine, and in the forests of Endor. These creatures had several small hearts and were extremely tough; a single mantis could withstand dozens of lightsaber slashes or blaster shots before being killed.
