"I've seen many different ways of making a photon fizzle, but no one did it better than Doodnik."
―The menu at Dex's Diner[1]

A photon fizzle was a type of beverage made with quanta. It was sold at the restaurants Doodnik's Café, located on the world Tyne's Horky, and Dex's Diner on the planet Coruscant.

Description

"We prepare ours the way he did, with just the right amount of regular or light quanta."
―The menu at Dex's Diner[1]

A photon fizzle was a beverage which could be made in a variety of different ways and was served at diners and cafés. It was made with regular or light quanta.[1]

History

"That was, uh, three, uh, Photon Fizzles."
―C-3PO takes orders[2]

Besalisk chef Dexter Jettster prepared the drink as a bartender at Doodnik's Café, located on the world of Tyne's Horky. Photon fizzles were also sold at the restaurant Jettster later opened, Dex's Diner, located on the planet Coruscant,[1] at some point prior to the eatery's destruction during the first two years of the Galactic Empire's reign.[3] They could be purchased for 2.7 credits. In the menu, Jettster noted that he felt that the best photon fizzle was made by the owner of Doodnik's Café, Doodnik Sharpelz. Therefore, Jettster had his diner prepare their photon fizzles the way Sharpelz did, using the correct amount of regular or light quanta.[1]

In 15 BBY,[4] photon fizzles were still sold at Doodnik's Café. During the protocol droid C-3PO's brief stint as an employee of the café, he was required to make three photon fizzles.[2]

Behind the scenes

Photon fizzles were first mentioned in "The Lost Prince,"[2] the fifth episode of the animated series Star Wars: Droids, which first aired on October 5, 1985.[5]
