Imperial Special Operations was a unit of the Galactic Empire.
The Ghost Battalion, officially the Special Ops Group, was a legendary military group of convert operations. In some of their assignments, such as the Subjugation of Sulon, they used converted captured vehicles, or appropriately disguised Imperial vehicles and S.O. commandoes. The result would be to accuse the Rebel Alliance and accuse them for the massacre as terrorists.[2]
Around the time of his graduation from the Carida Academy, Meck Odom had requested for a Special Operations assignment. It was granted quickly and he was transferred to the Danuta research facility where the superlaser for the Death Star was being researched.[2]

The Special Operations is an entity that was intended to appear in the video game Star Wars: Dark Forces, represented by the agent Ruu San who protected the Dark Trooper Project, however these references were cut.[3]
The phrase "Special Operations" appears several times in the Dark Forces: Soldier for the Empire, although it is not clear if it refers to "Special Forces".
