Gold Squadron (New Republic)

Gold Squadron was a starfighter squadron that fought for the New Republic.

History

In 7 ABY, Gold Squadron was made up of twelve RZ-1 A-wing interceptors, which covered the escape of the evacuation transports during the Battle of Folor. The name was also used by pilots undergoing training in the New Republic armed forces.

In approximately 9 ABY, a Gold Squadron consisting of a group of New Republic T-65 X-wing starfighters assigned to the EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate Quenfis fought in the Battle for the Katana fleet. The squadron was ordered to hold back at first, but when Borsk Fey'lya was stripped of his command, the squadron eventually assisted Rogue Squadron in defending the remaining Dreadnaughts.
