Cronese Mandate/Legends
The Cronese Mandate was a sector located within the Outer Rim region of the galaxy. It was created by the Galactic Empire when the Empire divided the Tion Cluster into three different sectors: the Allied Tion sector, the Tion Hegemony and the Cronese Mandate.
Description
The Cronese Mandate was the most southern sector of the Tion Cluster.[2] The Mandate contained 464 inhabited worlds as well as many uninhabited systems. It was the most inhabited of the three sectors of the Cluster, as only about 136 worlds were inhabited in the other two combined.[5]
Its principal worlds were along the Greater Cronese Arc. The Kismaano Bypass and the Indrexu Route connected it to the Allied Tion, while the Lesser Cronese Arc connected it to the worlds of the Tion Hegemony's Back Spiral.[2]
The inhabitants of the Mandate were known as the Cronese. They tended to aloofness, mindful of their imperial past and often dismissing their Tionese neighbors as unsophisticated peasants. Cronese had always looked to the rest of the galaxy in a way the rest of the Tion hadn't.
Most of the Mandate's trade was based on its abundance of mineral wealth, mined in the uninhabited systems. These minerals were the source of the sector's prosperity.[5]
History
Early history
The Cronese Mandate was almost the same area as the historical territory of the Kingdom of Cron. This kingdom was the center of Xer VIII's empire and later Xim the Despot's empire, 25,000 years before the Battle of Yavin.[2]
Modern history
The Tion Cluster eventually joined the Old Republic, and in the Republic's final years, the Cluster joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems. In retaliation, the Empire divided it into three sectors.[2] The Cronese Mandate contained the fourteen worlds of the former Kingdom of Cron,[5] including Chandaar, the historic capital and later the Imperial sector capital.[2]
At the time of the Galactic Civil War, the ruler of the Mandate was Robeir XXIII, head of the House of Cron, who paid court to Emperor Palpatine. The Cronese had a certain level of independence and a fairly large defense fleet, but were overseen by Imperial troops.[5]
After the Battle of Endor, the sector and the entire Cluster integrated into Zsinj's Empire. They stayed under Zsinj's control until his death in 8 ABY, becoming independent sectors again.[3]
