Mission to Panna Prime
Between 0 BBY and 1 ABY,[2] members of the Rebel Alliance undertook a mission to recover the Talisman, a mystical artifact that was also sought by the Galactic Empire. Launching in the freighter Millennium Falcon from an Alliance base in an asteroid field, Rebel-allied smugglers Han Solo and Chewbacca recovered the Talisman and discovered that it produced a sleeping virus that rendered Humans unconscious. Solo was indeed a Human, and his Wookiee co-pilot accordingly hung his prone form upside-down, as allowing blood to rush to the head was the only way to keep him alive.[1]
Returning to and narrowly avoiding a collision with the Rebel Base, Chewbacca flew the Millennium Falcon to the Panna system, followed by Rebel pilot Luke Skywalker and his droids R2-D2 and C-3PO in a Y-wing starfighter. There, the two ships crashed on the water-covered moon Panna Prime. Their comlink disabled, Skywalker and the droids were a attacked by a native creature, only to be rescued by the bounty hunter Boba Fett, who was in reality working with Darth Vader of the Galactic Empire in a plot to uncover the location of the hidden Rebel base.[1]
Following Boba Fett's mount in the ejected cockpit of their Y-wing, the Rebels arrived at the downed Falcon, where Skywalker watched as Chewbacca destroyed the talisman, though not before he, also a human, was infected with the sleeping virus. Fett was familiar with the virus as an Imperial weapon, and left for a nearby city to acquire a remedy, reluctantly allowing Chewbacca to accompany him. In the city, Fett separated from Chewbacca and located the serum as promised, while also covertly contacting Darth Vader.[1]
Fighting off Imperial stormtrooper pursuit as they left the city, the pair returned to the Falcon and administered the serum to the afflicted humans, saving their lives and awakening them from their sleep.[1] Solo, familiar with Boba Fett, failed to recognize the bounty hunter due to the after-effects of the sleeping virus,[3] and a grateful Skywalker offered to bring Fett to the Rebel base. However, the droids had intercepted the transmission between Vader and the bounty hunter, and revealed Fett's duplicity. Following his escape via jetpack, the Rebel group left Panna Prime aboard the Falcon.[1]
Later, an edited recording of the mission was given as a gift by Chewbacca to his son, Lumpawarrump,[4] while Imperial records of the event were classified.[5]
