688 was the designation to a pair of Corellian corvettes that were part of Task Force Vengeance. They were part of a major convoy passing through the Almaran system carrying troops. They were inspected by a Rebel A-wing that was part of Rogue Squadron as part of their mission to scan all Imperial ships to gauge their strength and to destroy any freighters carrying Warheads to buy time for the Alliance.
