The title of this article is conjectural.

Although this article is based on official information from the Star Wars Legends continuity, the actual name of this subject is pure conjecture.

A primitive refugee camp existed on the planet Virgillia's forested moon in the Virgillia system. It was discovered by the Galactic Empire and destroyed at some point between 19 BBY and 4 ABY by stormtroopers.

Description

The small, primitive camp was located on the planet Virgillia's forested moon in the Virgillia system. It was built by refugees, many of which were women, children or wounded. The conditions in the camp were poor.[2]

History

The refugee camp was located in the Virgillia system.

The Virgillia system was embroiled in a brutal civil war from 25 BBY[3] to 4 ABY[1] between the Galactic Empire-aligned Aristocracy and the Virgillian Free Alignment.[2]

At some point between 19 BBY and 4 ABY,[1] the refugee camp was discovered by a Galactic Empire informant. Captain Jarroth and the crew of the Imperial Victory-class Star Destroyer Stormwind were sent to investigate the site. Convinced it was sheltering Virgillian Free Alignment fighters, Jarroth ordered stormtroopers to torture the refugees for information by slowly searing their flesh off their bones with a blaster set to low power, a technique known as the Burning. The torture did not produce any intelligence, although it did kill several of its recipients. In response to these deaths, the refugees attempted to fight back, but the stormtroopers killed all of them. The attack was the first mission of Imperial Navy Ensign Rannd Delckis, who was in the Stormwind's landing party, and he found the incident so horrifying that he defected shortly after to the Free Alignment.[2]

Behind the scenes

The refugee camp was mentioned in The Truce at Bakura Sourcebook, a roleplaying guide published in 1996 by West End Games for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. It was written by Kathy Tyers and Eric S. Trautmann.[2]

Notes and references

  1. 1.0 1.1 1.2 It was attacked by Galactic Empire forces, which only exist after the fall of the Republic in 19 BBY. The Truce at Bakura Sourcebook establishes that the Virgillian Civil War ended just before the Battle of Endor, which The New Essential Chronology dates to 4 ABY. As the camp was attacked on suspicions that it contained Virgillian Free Alignment members and one of the Imperials present subsequently defected and saw combat as a Free Alignment fighter, the destruction must have occurred before the Battle of Endor.

The HoloNet News Vol. 531 #45 news story also establishes that the Virgillian Civil War began two years prior, therefore in 25 BBY.
