An Alpha Team was a small expeditionary force employed by the Imperial Bureau of Stellar Charts and Surveys to carry out its mission to explore the galaxy. Alpha Teams were responsible for the survey of newly discovered planets and utilized the talents of scientists, cartographers, astrophysicists, geologists, sociologists, linguists and xenobiologists, as well as the most advanced equipment available to fulfill their objectives. The labor droid Bollux was once employed by an Alpha Team after being manumitted from service at the Fondor Shipyards.
