2PO was a protocol droid in the employ of Melnea Arnthout, leader of a group of colonists to Tatooine. He was kidnapped by Jawas after only one season on the planet.[1] During his time with the Jawas he learned their language, and after Melnea rescued him he was instrumental in opening negotiations between the colonists and the Jawas.[2]
