The Northern Dune Sea was a segment of the Dune Sea on Tatooine. Jabba's Palace was located at its edge on the Great Mesra Plateau, and the Great Pit of Carkoon was located within it. Other features included the Mushroom Mesa, Bantha Plains, and B'omarr Flats.[1]

History

The Northern Dune Sea was the location of the Great Pit of Carkoon,[1] where took place the Battle of the Great Pit of Carkoon during the Galactic Civil War.[2] Soon after that battle, Kuat of Kuat, the leader of Kuat Drive Yards, arranged a bombing run on the area around the Great Pit of Carkoon to ensure the death of the bounty hunter Boba Fett.[3]

Behind the scenes

The video game Star Wars Galaxies incorrectly places Jabba's Palace and the Great Pit of Carkoon in the Western Dune Sea.[4]
