The Kingdom of Ice!

The Kingdom of Ice! was the first installment of The Kingdom of Ice, published in Pizzazz 10 in July 1978. The entire story arc was reprinted in the UK in Star Wars Weekly 57–60 in 1979.

Plot summary

Fresh from their ordeal on the Keeper's World, Princess Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, and R2-D2 finally arrive on Akuria II to complete their mission to the Akuria Rebel base. When the expected homing beacon does not appear on the scanners of their scout craft, Leia suspects something has gone wrong.

Those suspicions are proved correct when an Imperial TIE Fighters appears to shoot them down. Thanks to Leia's marksmanship and Luke's fancy flying they are able to land their scout craft in Akuria II's Polar Wastes in one piece. Just as the remaining TIE Fighter is coming around for another attack run, it is destroyed by a laser cannon, leaving Leia and Luke to hope that their Rebel contacts had finally arrived.
