Alliance Cold Weather Headgear consisted of a special hat, face mask and protective goggles, issued to the members of Alliance Special Forces during assignments in extremely frigid climates like Hoth as part of their cold-weather outfit. Its main and only purpose was to protect the wearer from hypothermia.
