This article is about an EV-series droid model. You may be looking for EV-2-E, an EV-series droid.

"The EV-IIs more than compensated for the personality flaws evident in the first generation EVs; I used to own a standard EV when I was running an automated bulk freighter. Shortly before I upgraded to an EV-II, my supervisory droid managed to mistreat the droid crew so badly that one of the more aggressive astromechs actually blew it out of the airlock."
―Hyrum-12, on Cynabar's Droid Datalog[1]

The EV-II was the second generation model of EV-series supervisor droid that was introduced by MerenData to remedy the personality flaws that plagued its predecessor. Costing 6,400 credits, it stood 1.8 meters tall and was equipped with an auditory receptor, a broadband broadcast antenna/receiver system, a high frequency binary comlink, Human range photoreceptors, and a vocabulator, as well as an advanced personality matrix.[1]

Hyrum-12 acquired an EV-II after their first generation EV was spaced by an astromech droid that it mistreated. They were of the opinion that it more than compensated for the issues present in the original model.[1] Despite this, the EV-series, including the EV-II and V-series replacement models, was a financial failure.[2]

Behind the scenes

The EV-II was first mentioned in Cynabar's Fantastic Technology: Droids, a 1997 Star Wars Legends supplement written by Drew Campbell and Eric S. Trautmann for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. It was depicted in a sketch by Johannes Huber, which also doubled as an illustration of the first generation EV.[1]
