A '''negate''' was a type of duel practiced by the [[Phosphura Belt Pirates]] to settle internal disputes. The negate was a duel to the death. A [[Pirate/Legends|pirate]] wanting to take the chair of the [[Pirate King|Pirate King or Queen]] could make a negate challenge, or a negate could be used to settle open hostilities between two pirate groups. It was by custom the subject of game wagers.

To add a bit of excitement, negates could be fought in a "[[Fire Ring of Fornax]]".
