Originally created to set charges inside ore and [[Spice/Legends|spice]] mines, it had been converted for military use. LIN-V8M was present on the [[DS-1 Orbital Battle Station/Legends|Death Star I]] and was destroyed along with that battle station during the [[Battle of Yavin/Legends|Battle of Yavin]]. A similar droid ([[LIN-V8K/Legends|LIN-V8K]]) was in the same [[Sandcrawler]] as [[C-3PO]] and [[R2-D2]].
