The X'Cal was a demon-beast from Ukian mythology. It had wings of fire and was considered to be the harbinger of the planet Ukio's destruction.

In 9 ABY, Grand Admiral Thrawn conquered the planet Ukio using a stratagem involving cloaked warships. A least one Ukian official believed that the Empire had bent the X'Cal to their purpose, heralding the end of times for the planet.
