Winterfest

Winterfest was a holiday observed[1] annually[2] among the Daughters of Allya, the famed witches of Dathomir. During Winterfest, the younger witches received gifts from the elder ones.[1] Those in the galaxy who were not Daughters of Allya didn't understand how they celebrated the holiday. Individuals would use the creepiness of the witches to throw their own parties, with some claiming that they came from the lineage of the Daughters of Allya.[2] Sometime between 0 BBY and 4 ABY,[3] the Nightsisters traveled offworld to raid popular cities across the galaxy. The following year, people speculated that they would attack again.[2] Before 8 ABY,[4] Teneniel Djo was given Winterfest gifts by her aunt Gethzerion.[1]
Behind the scenes
Winterfest was first mentioned in The Courtship of Princess Leia, a book written by Dave Wolverton and released in 1994.[1]
