Vibrorapier/Legends
A vibrorapier was a specialized type of vibrosword with a long and thin blade.[1][2]
Characteristics
The vibrorapier possessed a longer and thinner blade than the standard vibroblade,[1] and was also extremely well-balanced, with many professional fighters considering the vibrorapier to be an excellent duelist's weapon as a result.[1] The vibrorapier was entirely silent due to a specialized design that diminished the ultrasonic pitch typical to other vibroweapons, making it a preferred weapon when stealth was necessary.[1] While a deadly slashing weapon,[1] the vibrorapier was specially designed for thrusting; vibrorapiers were capable of piercing virtually any armor due to their construction, making them extremely deadly in the hands of a professional.[2]
History
The vibrorapier had a reputation for rakishness and roguishness given its use by professional swordsmen, pirates, and privateers.[3] Besides its aesthetics and reputation, however, the weapon fulfilled an important niche purpose in modern combat; due to its slim construction it was preferred over bulkier weapons during boarding operations, especially when blasters couldn't be used for fear of damaging fragile cofferdams and airlocks.[3]
Because of their value, it wasn't uncommon for a Captain to give vibrorapiers to members of their crew in order to win loyalty; often the weapons were so highly prized that gifting one was often enough ensure that there would be no challenges to command.[3]
LaserHone was considered to be the best vibrorapier manufacturer on the market,[3] and its duelist vibrorapier was renowned for its quality.[3]
