A male Imperial fleet officer serving under Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin was in charge of the Empire's Subjugation of Mon Calamari. Enslaved during the conflict, the Mon Calamari Gial Ackbar entered the service of the fleet officer as an interpreter and servant. To curry favor from his superior, the fleet officer presented Ackbar to Tarkin, who accepted the Mon Calamari as his personal slave.
