Tom Sylla and brother John Sylla were voice-recorded by Lucasfilm sound designer Ben Burtt for a sound effect in Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The Sylla brothers had grown up neighbors of Burtt.

Tom Sylla spoke the line "All flight crews, man your stations. All flight crews, man your stations." at the very beginning of the Yavin Rebel Hangar scene in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, just before Han Solo is seen loading his reward money onto his ship. Tom and John Sylla also provided background growls and grunts for the Cantina scene, just after the Bartender kicks the R2 and 3PO out.

Tom Sylla also spoke the ADR line "Gray Leader standing by" in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi when rebel Horton Salm is shown speaking in his Y-wing cockpit just after the rebels arrive to attack the partially-completed Death Star.

Tom Sylla also spoke several of the battle droid lines at the beginning of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, including "Check it out, Corporal" and "Roger, Roger."
