A timer mine was an explosive mine used by both mining droids and military forces. As indicated by the name, it was activated via timer, and was originally meant for use in ore and spice mines for demolition purposes, and largely retained that role generally. However, many of them have been altered for military applications by both the Empire and the Rebels.
