Thermal gliding

Thermal gliding was a recreational activity popular on the planet Socorro. Using gliders made of animal skin or light-weight polymers, pilots launched themselves from high points and used the natural occurring thermal wells to stay aloft. Speeds of forty-five kilometers were not uncommon, and the gliders were a common sight near the outskirts of Soco-Jarel Spaceport.
