Hazlett attributed the fictional work to the character of Arner Figgis, who originated from the August 1995 Star Wars Adventure Journal 7. According to Hazlett, the character's personality in another in-universe work, Old Corellian: A Guide for the Curious Scholar, leant itself to the verbose titles of older "British magna opera," such as Edward Gibbon's The History of the Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire and Winston Churchill's A History of the English-Speaking Peoples.
