Usage instructions

Copy the template code below, and paste it into an article's reference note. Fill in as many parameters as you can, remove any that you don't use.

As of September 2011, all Hyperspace links are completely inaccessible.

Required parameters

• |url= Original URL to the material from the old StarWars.com, excluding the https://www.starwars.com/ part. Will return a 404 error now.
• |text= Formatted name of the material being cited.
• For archive options, see Backup links below.

Optional parameters

• |int= This field provides a link to the Wookieepedia article, if one exists.
• |author= Name(s) of the author(s). Multiple authors must be separated with a ";" between their names. Note that an author is not necessarily an individual and could be an organization. A long list of authors can be reduced using ", et al." after the first name. Provide wikilinks whenever they are available.
• |date= Full date of publication, in ISO 8601 YYYY-MM-DD format, for example "date=2006-02-17".
• |newurl= URL to a live version of the material legally hosted on an official site. Do not use this to link to copyright violations! Make sure it is on an official site such as Star Wars Suvudu before linking to it this way. Not required.
• |newhost= Wikilinked name of site hosting the live version (e.g. Random House). Required if |newurl= is given.

Unneccesary parameters

• |nolive= As the original online content is no longer available, the template will automatically add "content removed from StarWars.com;" to the citation, and therefore does NOT require the use of "|nolive=1" like with other citation templates.

Backup links

Instructions for providing a backup link In accordance with our Sourcing policy, all links to external sites must include a link to a backup version, preferably using Internet Archive. Instances that do not include one of the following parameters will result in the page being placed in the maintenance category. Please only use one of the following parameters. |archivedate=20250520205848 This parameter uses the timestamp feature of Internet Archive. The URL supplied earlier in the template, along with archivedate, will provide a link to Internet Archive. |archiveurl=https://archive.is/EfD8P If Internet Archive does not work for the link in question, you can use archiveurl to provide a full URL to another backup website, such as archive.is. |archivefile=File:Jon_Favreau_The_Mandalorian.png If none of the archiving sites work, then provide a link to a screenshot of the page, uploaded to Wookieepedia, as per Wookieepedia:Mofferences/June 29, 2014. |nobackup=1 If no backup link can be found for content that is no longer available, this parameter can be used. If the content is still available, you can screenshot and upload it to Wookieepedia instead. |nolive=1 If the original content is no longer available, this parameter can be used, which will make the template add "content now obsolete;" to the citation. This may also mean a backup link can no longer be provided, and therefore may be used as well as |nobackup=1. Some citation templates such as {{SWArchive}} link to older content that is known to be no longer available, and therefore automatically default to |nolive=1 without the need to add the parameter manually. Note that for citation templates using a central repository (/Archive subpage), archivedate values must be added to the repository, and not on the individual instance of those templates.
