Telescope/Legends
A telescope was a device used to magnify images in much the same way as a pair of macrobinoculars. It was presumably related to the electrotelescope.
Characteristics
A telescope was a type of simple sensor. It examined the energy emitted by other sources.[1]
History
In 4 BBY Lando Calrissian longed for an optical telescope as opposed to the electronic magnifier aboard the Millennium Falcon that was not functioning due to the effects of the Flamewind.[2]
During his time on Tatooine, Luke Skywalker wished he owned a telescope rather than his macrobinoculars.[3]
While talking with Teneniel Djo, Prince Isolder remarked that if one had a powerful enough telescope, they could see the Fere inhabitants as they once were many years ago before they were wiped out by a plague, by seeing the light reflected off the planet just reaching the eye. However, Isolder then said, that such a telescope did not exist.[4]
Prior to its destruction at the beginning of the Yuuzhan Vong War, the outpost of ExGal-4 on Belkadan used both ground-based and orbiting scopes.[5]
