A systems army was a formation of the Imperial Army.

Organization

A bookkeeping formation rather than an active combat unit, the systems army was a commanded by a high general.[1] It was composed of two armies, and four armies was an augmented systems army.[2] Largely because of its bookkeeping formation, its HQ is largely the same size as that of an Army HQ, with its primary function being to ensure all of the subordinate commanders knew where all the other military resources are.[2]

The Imperial systems army's status in the military hierarchy was notably different to what it had been in the Grand Army of the Republic: the GAR's systems armies had been larger formations composed of two sector armies. Under the Empire, the systems armies became subordinate formations to the sector armies.[3]
