The Startide was a partially constructed MC90 Star Cruiser that was destroyed during the attack on Mon Calamari.

History

The brand new warship was slated to be one of the first completed warships following the World Devastator attacks on the world during Operation Shadow Hand.

During the attack on the world by Imperial Admiral Natasi Daala, the vessel was remotely piloted into a collision with the Star Destroyer Manticore by Admiral Ackbar, who was down on the planet's surface. This move, though costing the Startide, bought enough time so that a New Republic fleet could arrive to chase off Daala's forces.

Behind the scenes

The name Startide relates to the 1983 science fiction novel Startide Rising written by David Brin. This person is thanked in the acknowledgements in Dark Apprentice.
