Sinton
The planet[5] Sinton was located in the Sinton system, a part of the Mid Rim's Rago sector.[1] It lay along the Rago Run hyperlane,[3] which connected it to the Moro and Gilatter systems.[2] Sinton was populated by non-Humans,[5] and at some point by 3 ABY,[6] the planet was subjugated by the Galactic Empire,[5] which subjected the planet's inhabitants to slave labor.[2]
By 12 ABY,[7] Sulamar, a fraudulently self-titled Imperial general, claimed to have participated in the Subjugation of Sinton, among many other purported military conquests[8]—some nonexistent.[9] In reality, Sulamar was a low-level Imperial technician with a failed military career.[8] By that same year, Sinton lay within the borders of the New Republic.[4]
Behind the scenes
Sinton was first mentioned in the 1995 novel Darksaber, written by Kevin J. Anderson, in which the character Imperial General Sulamar alleges to have played a part in the Subjugation of Sinton. Sulamar's claim is later called into doubt once he is exposed as a fraud.[8] Both the planet and its subjugation were subsequently elaborated upon through the 1997 Dagobah Limited expansion set of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game, thus proving Sinton's in-universe existence.[5] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Sinton system, and therefore the planet Sinton, in grid square I-7.[2]
