Simple Tricks

Simple Tricks is a short story written by Chris Cassidy and Tish Eggleston Pahl. It was published in the Tales from the New Republic short-story anthology by Bantam Spectra in 1999.

Plot summary

When Fenig Nabon's business partner is abducted, a Jedi calling himself Zeth Fost joins in the search and rescue of her friend. Her growing trust in the young man is shattered as Zeth's true identity is revealed and he confesses the pain and guilt of his past.

Continuity

Simple Tricks hints at the funding and construction of the Darksaber, placing this tale in 12 ABY prior to the Darksaber novel.
