Sarnikken Asteroid Belt

The Sarnikken Asteroid Belt was a group of asteroids in the Fakir sector. Its asteroids contained a wealth of heavy metals, and mining operations struggled for control of them. During the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire tried to take control of the mines but Imperial officials would often disappear. Larger ships had difficulty negotiating the dense asteroid belt. The Empire attempted to maintain a blockade outside the field but low numbers of ships made this difficult.

The Alliance to Restore the Republic purchased raw materials for its ships from the miners. The X-wings of Reekeene's Roughnecks would often escort the heavily laden Rebel transports.

Space slugs and mynocks were known to inhabit the many asteroids in the Sarnikken belt.
