Running the Gauntlet

Running the Gauntlet is a short story by Michael Stern that was published in Galaxy Guide 3: The Empire Strikes Back. It was later reprinted in the book's second edition and The Movie Trilogy Sourcebook.

Plot summary

The story is told through the personal memoirs of Wedge Antilles. Antilles, along with Derek Klivian and Wes Janson, escort the transport Thon's Orchard off of Hoth during the Battle of Hoth. They come into conflict with an Imperial Star Destroyer and Antilles performs the Tallon split maneuver against it, destroying one of its sensor globes in the process. The transport escapes to hyperspace and Antilles later jumps as well.
