The Rules of Engagement were the Jedi's rules for engaging an enemy in combat. A Padawan was required to learn and exercise these rules before they were allowed to obtain the rank of Jedi Knight. Qui-Gon Jinn tested Obi-Wan Kenobi on these rules during the Dorvalla Incident.

Rules of Engagement

Known Rules of Engagement are listed below:

  • A Jedi uses the Force and the lightsaber only for defense, never for Attack.
  • Understand the dark and light in all things.
  • Learn to see accurately.
  • Open your eyes to what is not evident.
  • Exercise caution, even in trivial manners.
