Rendric was an independent spacer who was one of the first to discover that the Galactic Empire was flooding the Outer Rim Territories with Viper probe droids. Rendric suggested in comments on "Cynabar's Droid Datalog" that enterprising individuals might use tractor beams to capture units, and mentioned that the Alliance was paying bounties for captured Vipers.
