The remodulating buffer heatsink was a component of a starship's hyperdrive. Without the heatsink, a vessel's hyperdrive would not engage. After suffering a blown hyperdrive due to Moff Kentor Sarne's sabotage, the remodulating buffer heatsink on the FarStar's jury-rigged engines blew after reaching Tanquilla Beach.
