The red pearl helped grow food pearls for the underwater dwellers.

The red pearl was a pearl owned by the underwater dwellers in a grotto deep under the surface of Sunshine Lake on the Forest Moon of Endor.[1] The red pearl helped grow food pearls, the main food source of the species.[2] After the red pearl was destroyed in 3 ABY during a confrontation with the tyrant Orcon, it was replaced by a blue pearl that was even more powerful.[3]
