A ray shield generator was used by the Trade Federation in the Battle of Naboo in 32 BBY. During the Clone Wars, the ray shield generator was used by the Confederacy of Independent Systems in the Battle of Coruscant as hangar air locks.
They were also used to catch unsuspecting spies on capital ships like the Invisible Hand.[source?]
A ray shield also shielded the thermal exhaust port on the first Death Star.
