A racing skiff was a repulsorlift skiff that was modified for racing. Young thrill-seekers on Tatooine stripped down the skiffs and upgraded their engines. Jabba the Hutt's repulsorlift vehicle mechanic Barada and his assistant Klaatu were known to build racing skiffs to race on the Dune Sea. Pilots that participated in the races included Vedain and Brock Starsher.

Racing skiffs first appeared on card in the Jabba's Palace Sealed Deck set from Decipher's Star Wars Customizable Card Game, featuring modified photos of Bantha-II cargo skiffs from Return of the Jedi.
