Plasma-grid

A plasma-grid was a machine designed to cut through rock.[1] In 3.5 ABY, during the Galactic Civil War,[2] Rebel Alliance engineers used plasma-grids to form a smooth construction surface in the rock of the moon Kile's mountainous foothills in order to build a temporary prefab base for the starfighter unit Rogue Squadron. The base continued to smell of burned rock from the plasma-grids[1] during Rogue Squadron's[3] brief[1] time there, which included[3] a quick mission to the nearby planet Gall.[1]
Behind the scenes
The plasma-grid was mentioned in the 1996 Shadows of the Empire Sourcebook, written by Peter Schweighofer for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[1]
